"Busy Busy Bu..no, wait...oh. Still Busy!"

ARGH! what a hectic week so far! i havent blogged since Sunday and tis now Thursday, well technically Friday. Meh. Whatchagonnado?

SOOO busy every day. good news is that my 2000 word Education 'write what they want you to' assignment is over and done with. but now i am working on what is possibly the most annoying assignment ever given by the History department! Tis a 1 page, referenced summary of a larger essay due at the end of term. now ordinarily this would be no problem. But you see, having underestimated the complexity of the task, i have foolishly left myself less than 17 hours from now) to hand it in.
Not only do I have to do ALL the background research you would usually be doing for a 3000wd+ assignment, but i have to do it tonight. well, before 5:30 this morning anyway (cause i have to open at Civic, after closing tonight, and getting home at 11)

Ah Procrastination. I could insert a very astute quote here, but i will not. as it is not only astute, but is also not the sort of quote one would use in polite society! :P

But on the bright side at least i have an interest in the topic. TIs on the Maori people, and specifically, how they adapted their warfare after the coming of European settlers! good fun! ^_^ i think the face tatoos are just about the coolest thing ive seen in a long time! :D i even may consider getting one! ;)

So yes, this week=busy. There have been numerous other highlights... I won Poker for the second time on Monday night! w00t! $10 to me! i like poker! :) Tuesday worked all day at the Daily planet and bought a horribly large number of comics (but..but..they were on sale!) oh and smallgroup was pretty good too! and that reminds me! :D Mike, if you're gonna come to smallgroup next week, we are doing a very brief study on the book of Ruth. so, if you want something to do, Ruth would be the way to go! because after all that work you'll be craving more right? :D

Wednesday, what happend.. oh yes. Uni! wake up late after oversleeping (i slept from 1-8!!!! dude! thats 7 hours sleep! thats freaky for me!) scoffed brekkie, rushed into Uni, went to lectures until 3, then stayed in Comp labs doing Educ assignment till 7:30, then went and researched some Maori stuff and got books from Library, at 10, i decided i needed a break from studying, so a friend and i got together and had a late night LAN session at a Gaming place in Toowong. got home around 1:30, slept till 7am this morning, got up, drove groggily over to mates place to pick him up and go to uni together for History of Warfare Tute at 9, and lecture till 12. Drove home, and well.. studied till 2, when my VERY SPECIAL EVENT happened. :D :D :D

It wasnt my first time on Ebay, ive been a member since 2001, but had only bid on about 3 items since, which i lost. but i saw it two days ago... THE catch of the year. now, non comic fans are going to go: 'what the..' and call me insane! but be that as it may, i am fairly pleased with the result. What i found was this:
'Ultimate Spiderman Issues 2-63'
Ok, now a little background here. i started collecting this series about 7 months back now, around issue 58. i had got back issues back to number 50 so far, but due to the popularity of this series, the other issues are really hard to get your hands on, and the first 20 issues are all but impossible. I know. I work in a comic store! ;) But yes, cutting to the chase, this offer was too good to pass up. so, summing up my currently favorable bank situation (meaning it was feasible, if a little extreme), i decided to go for it! the auction ended today, and I WON THE BID. the end price however, with shipping added onto it, was $510 Australian. yep. i paid 510 dollars for 61 comics (a little over 8 dollars each). Now before you call me insane, hear me out!
using my various resources and contacts i have gotten a hold of almost all the pricings of the individual issues. And the proper value of the whole lot is over 4 times, maybe even 5 times what i paid for it. :D not that i would sell mind you, but its the thrill of the chase that matters! the dizzying highs and lows, of finding it, then staying in the running, and the incredibly tense last seconds of the auction, wondering whether someone will snipe you or not!
Then the simultaneous elation and queasy feeling that youve won, but youve spent about 3 weeks worth of savings on it!
Its all about the chase! :D and this is an example of the life of a collector!

So, anyway! after this event, i studied some more for this Maori thing, and then went to work from 4-10:45. I got back, and fulfilled several of my obligations online, (this being the last one? although not quite an obligation!) ANd now, into my assignment, which i must finish tonight. otherwise i only leave myself the hours between 11:30 and 2:30 tomorrow to finish. (i work till 11 at civic, and it has to be in by 5 at uni, but I am working 4-8 at the comic store!) maybe if i get it finished tonight it wont matter if i sleep or not, because i can get some sleep in the three hours there.

BUt yes! this is all pretty shallow stuff today i know! but i have planned (in my mind) several topics i want to talk about comign up. So, inspired by Nato here is my list of upcoming blog topics:

1) "Help I've Fallen and I can't Get up" - a look into the Fallenness of Man, and why we truly are a completely fallen race.

2) "Cradle 2 the Grave" - Work vs Profession. Life's work, monotony?

3) "The Missionary Position" - Where is our Mission? What is a Mission? Who is a Missionary?

4) "He's A Bloke!" - Being a guy and the 'F' word. you know what i mean? Mike? fellas? *grunt*

More to be added soon i bet! im sure i had one and ive forgotten it now! but meh! these posts wont come one after hte other, but theyre stuff ive been pondering for a while, so theyll make it up sooner or later! ^_^ interjected, that is, with shallow whiny everyday stuff! and the best thing? NO ONE CAN STOP ME! BWAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAA! *cough cough*
ahem.

anyway! sorry for being really antisocial, not on MSN and not replying to email! Me promise that after today I will be back into it! it will be fully shick mata!

SAM

*EDIT*
LOL just had to share this bit of info with someone! :D came across this just now:

"Maori say: "The Genitals of Women are Killers of Men." Behind that too is the myth of the origin of death wherein the trickster, Maui, in a vain attempt to win immortality for mankind, is crushed in the vagina of the ancestress-guardian of the underworld."

this is part of Maori Mythology! heh heh heh.. i just found that incredibly amusing!! ^_^ what a way to go eh?
