Newsbreak with Philotas

Just reading some random net sites, and in the course of my investigations I came across something that struck me as odd. You know how you can read the Bible many times and not actually understand it? not on a spiritual level, but on a practical level. Check out Genesis 1 and 2.
There are two seperate accounts of God creating man and woman. In Genesis 1, on the sixth day: (v27) "So God Created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. (v28) God blessed them and said to them, "Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and over every living creature that moves on the ground."
Now, check out the start of Chapter 2
"This is the account of the heavens and the earth when they were created. "When the Lord God made the earth and the heavens - and no shrub of the field had yet appeared on the earth and no plant of the field had yet sprung up, for the Lord God had not sent rain on the earth, and there was no man to work the ground, but streams came up from the earth and watered the whole surgace of the ground - the Lord God formed the man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life and the man became a living being" (Gen 2:4-7)
Now can anyone else pick up the discrepencies here?
According to Chapter 1:
The Sixth day is after the plants and animals had already been put on earth. it was then that God created man and woman, told them to go and multiply.
According to Chapter 2:
God made the first man out of clay BEFORE any other plant or animal life, then made the garden of eden so they could live there. (this appears to happen halfway through the third day)
There are a couple of ways to interperet this.
1, the "sixth day humans" are everyone else, all the rest of the nations that would spread out and colonise all the cities (the ones that Cain would eventually be driven out to after killing Abel)
(Problems: Why create two humans first and give them a Garden all to themselves if you are going to create MANY people and tell them to spread. Why build the garden if you are later going to make the whole earth fertile? Also, why doesnt Genesis 1 say that he created the man and the woman?)
2 The Chapters are talking about the same event, but chap 2 in more detail. (problem with this is that they arent compatible given the timing that is written)
3 The creation story we have in the first two chapters is a mix of the a couple of different creation myths from the Hebrew culture.
Unfortunately, I think (this is going to be bad) that the most likely option is 3. Something that tips me off as well, is this:
Genesis 1:1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth."
Genesis 2:1 Thus the heavens and the earth were completed in all their vast array.
Genesis 2:4 (just 3 verses later) This is the account of the heavens and the earth when they were created
Why? Why say that just after you've described it? look at it objectively for a moment. if you were reading that as a story, doesnt it sound like one short story is ending, and another one starts, maybe a different version of the same story? But if there is only one story, why include the other? And what does this mean if there are two different versions of this story. does that mean it really is only a myth?
Thoughts please. and especially on what this means

The long awaited Rant post!...or, HULK SMASH!
So here is where i can vent my opinions and rants that have been building up for a while. you know the great thing about blogging? heh! this is MY universe! :) 'What I have written stays written' and all that jazz ^_^ oooh the power! oh, and i think some of my views in this one might offend some people. if so i apologise, but realise that these are my views. if you hold different ones thats fine. but here are mine.
Rant: Im sick of people judging me. Judging me because a) I read comics. b)I am a "Christian" (cause we all know what theyre like) c) Judging my Dad because he doesnt criticize the pastor like some others do. d) Dad judging me because some of the friends i have DO criticize our pastor. e) Judging me because Ive done stupid stuff in the past. f) judging me because i have a blog.
Rant: Im really exasperated with SNL services/other 'youth' services (now, Pentecostals dont take offence, but please read) Its not about feelings. dammit people, if music, atmosphere, and a preacher shouting out stuff about the spirit is the only way that gets you 'close to God' take a look at yourselves!
My Brother had to go to an orientation camp for Christian Heratige College, his university for this year, and they had a big service that was very pente. he could barley read the music for all the people shouting and raising their hands in the air, or the other murmurings that i guess was prayer out loud.
I say that if you cant get the same connection with God in a traditional church, then theres something that needs to be looked at there. Are you doing it for you or for God?
Rant: Im angry at myself because every time i go to the music centre i see people who are so much better than I am. I havent put enough effort into practice. And now im so far behind. My piano is stagnated. I cant put up with this! I am supposed to have my 8th grade exam in May.
Rant: Im angry at the secular world. who see themselves as so enlightened they have blinded themselves. If you want to be an academic there is no way you will be taken seriously if you are Christian because your views are so biased.
Rant: Im angry at this CD i found in the new car I bought, "Conversations with God" what a New age decieveing piece of silicon! it twists the words of the Bible around something chronic.
Rant: and another thing. I dont like people taking the Bible (or anything) out of context! We do not live in a static world. everything only has meaning in context with something else. you cant just take a phrase like "Have i not said, Ye are gods" and leave it at that!
ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

I decided to go back into the Christian Newsgroups scene after having left it over a year ago. And just reading one group, i rememebred why. These comments are taken from alt.religion.christian.biblestudy. and 4 posts that i read.

And as well as this there were even examples of using proverbs to insult people. :P
There was much worse around but i just got sick to my heart and quit the whole thing. how can they call themselves Christians.

Meanwhile...
Featuring the Totally random and really quite meaningless blog!
As I was watching a short episode of Space Ghost Coast 2 Coast tonight on my PC, there was a throwaway comment by a guest being interviewed about an infamous Madonna and David Letterman Interview in 94.
Having watched a few episodes of Latenight with David Letterman, and obviously having heard Madonnna's music and about Madonna herself, and because I'm an inquisitive kinda guy I searched the net for said interview and found a transcript, which you guys can read here.
Madonna VS Letterman
After Reading that I was a bit shocked. it almost seems as if Madonna was on something when she went on the show. the way she treated Dave was terrible. that was how I read it. but, searching further for more stories on this interview, i came across another site, an excerpt from a womens studies course. After quickly skimming through easily 5 pages of unparagraphed feminism, I came to the paragraph Google had picked up. here it is.
"After a short hiatus, Madonna made a splash in the spring of 1994 when she appeared on Late Night with David Letterman. The show was memorable for the antagonism between the host and guest and the audience's apparent willingness to see Letterman skewer her mercilessly. It was a battle of wits, with Madonna using a certain banned word 13 different times—a stunt that drew her severe media criticism the next day. Entertainment Weekly writer Ken Tucker saw it as an attention-getting ploy, "a way to keep her name in the papers in lieu of actually producing some sort of creative work," and noted that by 1994, "as a feminist culture hero," she was fading from the spotlight."
It goes on to say how Madonna made a remarkable recovery. now this is just weird to me. As I read the interview i felt it was Madonna, deliberately going out to be crude and agressive with Dave. Yet this womens studies course, making an example of her as a powerful female, portrays her as some kind of victim here, making her a great hero for feminism.
I really cant say how much i disagree with that, on so many levels. i would, but its about 10 to 2am. :)
Ill just say its amazing how many different views of the same thing there can be, and how to justify a cause a person can be represented as a hero when in reality the truth is a lot less glorious? comments anyone?
