My Blog... the final frontier?

Im taking a break out of the hecticness of working on what appears to be a 3000 word History assignment (I have concluded it's actually a giant flesh-eating monster with tentacles of fire and a hideous beaked maw just POSING as an assignment to try to eat me. but dont worry. I wont let it!) - to talk about something that ive been wondering about!

Listen and think.

Just think about it. Neil Armstrong was the first man to set foot on the face of the moon. That is an incredible achievement. It ranks up there with fire and the wheel (and of course sliced bread) in my book.
Millions of people watched this moment, just over 36 years ago. They waited, they prayed. They wondered what could happen. Can you imagine something like that?
Mars is no longer a dream. something like this will probably happen again in our lifetimes. (Go Nic! You are going to be up there i know it!)

Can you imagine what it would be like to be Neil Armstrong, watching the airlock door open, seeing with your own eyes the barren lifeless surface of the moon. Seeing high up in the Sky, the Earth, slowly rotating, with all its' peoples and continents so far away. Theres africa... theres Europe... theres Australia... all in the space of a few hours.

My real question though is about those first few words. "One small step for man, one, giant leap for mankind." (He actually meant to say "for A man" but even after planning the line he misspoke.. i can forgive him ^_^)
Those words will FOREVER be remembered throughout history.
They were planned on the way over... can you imagine having to choose something to say?

Put yourself in an Astronaut's boots for a second. You are about to step onto Mars. To be the first Human Being in History to set foot on an Alien Planet. The door opens up in front of you. you take a sharp intake of oxygen from your supply as you see the red, rocky surface in front of you, with Alien hills and mountains on the horizon. You steel yourself, keenly aware that BILLIONS of people are watching you on video, listening on Radio. You represent humanity for these next few moments.
Taking a step down the ladder of the landing pod, your calmly make your way onto the next rung, and the next, and finally to the bottom platform. All you have to do now, is step off.

You move your leg forward, and there it is.
You are the first Human Being, the first Visitor from planet Earth to set foot on mars. Everyone holds their breath at home....

What do you say?
